Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona WANDA M LYDOLPH (March 16, 1924 - August 26, 2014) Wanda Marie Vickers Lydolph was born March 16, 1924 in Bonaparte, Iowa to William Vickers and Marjorie Pfiefer Vickers. She passed away in Snowflake, Arizona, on August 26, 2014. She was 90 years old. Wanda married the love of her life, Cecil Lydolph on May 17, 1941. They celebrated 73 years of marriage this year. They moved with their 4 children from Bonaparte, Iowa, to Snowflake, Arizona in 1962 when the Papermill opened, then back to Bonaparte, briefly, in 1976-1979, when they came back to Taylor, Arizona and have lived since then. Wanda lived through the depression years and could cook a gourmet meal out of anything. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She bowled, wrote poetry and loved to play word games. She loved music of all kind with the exception of modern country. She never missed a grandchild’s ballgame/activity, if she could get there. Wanda was one of the most intelligent people you would ever meet. She had a great personality and good sense of humor. She loved her animals, especially her dogs, cats and chickens. Wanda loved her children and her grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes. Not only was she a homemaker but she also held many jobs. She served in the Signal Core during World War II, where she decoded messages for the Secret Services in Arlington, Virginia at the Pentagon. She also worked at the Talheimers Department Store in Richmond, Virginia, Shaffer Pen in Fort Madison, Iowa and Fairfield Glove Factory in Bonaparte, Iowa. Wanda is survived by her husband Cecil Lydolph of 73 years; Sons: Chris Lydolph of Texas, Murrie (Janet) Lydolph of Mississippi, Jeff Lydolph of Mississippi; Daughter: Sarita (Lynn) Hatch or Taylor, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; Brother: William (Betty) Vickers) of Bonaparte, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Grandson: George Lydolph and Daughter-in-law: Trenna Lydolph. In honor of her wishes, no services will be held. In Lieu of Flowers, Wanda would love donations to be made to Pet Allies or a similar organization.
