PAULSEN, John (Jack) Conrad


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, September 04, 2014 John "Jack" Conrad Paulsen John "Jack" went home to the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2014. He was born Sunday, Dec. 8, 1929, in Minneapolis Minn. His childhood was spent in Minnesota and Illinois. As a teenager, he and his family moved to California. His early college days were interrupted by four years in the U.S. Air Force between 1951 and 1955. He was assigned to the 1009th Special Weapons Squadron. In 1953, he married Nyla. Upon his discharge, he attended Michigan Tech in Houghton, Mich., to become a geological engineer. His career with U.S. Borax lasted 31 years and at four different sites. Jack and Nyla retired to Prescott, Ariz., in 1992. During his retirement years, he was a member of the American Lutheran Church. He was an active member of the Southwest Artists Association, the Genealogical Society, Prescott Astronomy Club, and Gem and Mineral Clubs. He also spent many years as a volunteer at Sharlot Hall Museum. During his lifetime, he enjoyed painting, photography, hiking, fishing, traveling and camping. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nyla; two daughters, Glenna (Raymond) and Laura (Rick); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother Thomas. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at the American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott.
