Georga Lee Arnold Oates, 80, went to be with the Lord Aug. 31, 2014, at home among her loving family. She was born Feb. 22, 1934, to the parents of Maurice and Maurine Arnold in Phoenix.
Georga was raised in Phoenix and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1951. She remained in Phoenix where she began raising her family.
Georga moved to Show Low in 1971 and later to Pinetop-Lakeside and spent many years raising kids in the White Mountains. During this time, she worked at the ESP Shoppe and managed the first S&H Green Stamp Store located at Wilbur’s Market Mall.
She moved from the White Mountains back to her Phoenix home in 1983. Georga went to work for Maricopa County as an MVD Title Clerk and retired from the State of Arizona in 1999. She was very proud to be a “Native Arizonan” and member of the family-owned Arnold Pickle and Olive Company. She was an accomplished seamstress, musician and gardener.
Georga’s greatest legacy was her accomplished family which she loved deeply and took great pride.
She is survived by five children, Thomas Edmund Allen Jr., Sharron Genell Dawson, Harry Albert Allen, Hugh Arnold Allen and Scott Skousen Oates, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at Serenity Chapel at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 N Van Buren St. in Phoenix.
