HEADINGTON, Mary Kmetich

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, September 08, 2014 Mary Kmetich Headington was born April 25, 1916, in Humboldt, Ariz. She graduated from Prescott High School and trained as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. Mary served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II and at the Veterans Hospital in Prescott after the war. In 1953, Mary married Robert Headington, an economist and ASU professor, and Mary and Bob lived together in Tempe and Mesa until Bob's death in 1991. Mary remained in Mesa until 2008, when she relocated to Scottsdale. Mary was a lifelong fine artist and one year was named Mesa Artist of the Year. Mary was predeceased by her sisters Anne Evans, Barbara Boyle and Catherine Bruni, and her brother Frank Cvetkovich. She is survived by her sister-in-law Martha Cvetkovich; several nieces and nephews; and Robert's children and grandchildren.
