Janet L. “Jan” Barnum, 68, of Lake Havasu City, passed away Thursday,
Aug. 28, 2014 at the Polidori House operated by Hospice of Havasu. She
was born Aug. 12, 1946 in Battle Creek, Mich., to Donald and Marjorie
(Cook) Thompson.
Jan moved with her family to Canoga Park, Calif. at the age of 3. She
returned on her own to Battle Creek at age 17, and retired to Lake
Havasu City in 1999. Jan worked as a waitress at the fine dining
restaurant formerly known as Lakewood Inn on Goguac Lake before joining
Ralston Foods to work in the factory. Jan retired early from Ralston’s
after becoming disabled from a car accident in 1996, in which she was a
passenger.
Jan is survived by her son, James C. Ferree, Jr. (Sharon) of Lake St.
Louis, Mo.; a brother, Jerry Thompson of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; a
sister, Judy Barr of Lake Havasu City; a grandchild, unborn baby Ferree.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place by the request of Jan.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday at
Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd. A potluck will follow at the
Eagles on London Bridge Road at 1 p.m.
