HUNT, Robert Carlton (Bob)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/09/2014 Robert Carlton Hunt Robert Hunt, 79, of Harlingen, Texas, and formerly Buchanan, Va., went to be with His Lord and Savior Sept. 4, 2014, at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Bob was president and founder of Valley Gypsum Company of Roanoke, Va. Bob was an avid RV traveler and mission volunteer. He and his wife, Lori, spent the past 20 years traveling the United States and Canada. Summers were spent at their residences on Wrangell Island, Alaska, and Snowflake. They served on many mission projects in Alaska, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico, Washington, Wisconsin, Utah and Arizona. Winters were spent in South Texas working with Zavala Ministries and Casa Hogar Benito Juarez Children’s Home in Reynosa, Mexico. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Lori Hunt; son Duane J. (Lisa) Hunt of Troutville, Va.; daughter Lisa (Neal) Marrs of California, Maryland, and Kristi O’Riley of Snowflake; 10 grandchildren, Emily (Nathan) Switzer; Katie Hunt; Matthew, Nathan and Sarah Marrs; and Bob, Marianna, Lydia, Zoe and Noah O’Riley; three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Ava and Wyatt Switzer; two sisters, Shirley Weaver and Mary Lee (Wesley) Wilson; and two brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Hunt and Melvin (Vicky) Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Helen Hunt, and his brother, Kenneth Hunt. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 18, at Faith Alliance Church, 7505 Barrens Road in Roanoke, Va. Memorial gifts may be made to Missions to Mexico, 119 W.
