James Curtis Huggins, best known for driving around Kearny in his 1924 Model T Ford, passed on peacefully at his home on Aug. 30.
Born on May 13, 1945, in Globe, Ariz., Jim was the youngest child of Zeffie and Sylvester (Slim) Huggins, and graduated from Globe High in 1964.
Jim proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1965 to 1988, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. During his years as an Airman, Jim received several medals and awards for his exemplary service.
After his retirement, he worked for Motorola in Chandler, as a Refrigeration Maintenance Supervisor.
In 2001, Jim retired from Motorola, and devoted much of his time to working on old cars, getting them running, and attending car shows around the state with his friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chuck and Teddy; his wife of nearly 30 years, Connie (Stewart); and wife of 10 years, Thelma (Cotrell).
He is survived by his wife, Ricki Sue; two sons, Tim (Alicia), and Steven (Lori); three grandsons, Josiah, Curtis and Andrew; and one granddaughter, Angeleah.
Other survivors include one sister, Ella Mae Brandt (John); two brothers, Bobby (Betty) Huggins, Lewis (Mary) Huggins; and an aunt, Mary Powers. He also has step-sons, step-grandchildren and many friends that will miss him and his sense of humor.
Jim’s life was celebrated on June 6 at Central Heights Baptist Church in Globe, and he was laid to rest at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Ariz.
