ZELLER, Allan

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Tuesday, September 09, 2014 Allan Zeller, 74, longtime resident of Cottonwood, passed away August 9, 2014, with his family by his side. Allan was born October 6, 1939 in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, where he grew up with 5 siblings. He enlisted with the Air Force from 1959-1964, and traveled the world as an aircraft mechanic. He married his wife, Dorothy, in 1964 and together they raised 3 children. In 1975, they moved to Cottonwood and Allan went to work for DG Home Center in Sedona. He started his own TV and appliance repair business in 1979, in Sedona, and he and Dorothy ran Doral TV together for over 25 years. When they retired they were able to travel the country for several years, before returning to a home base in Cottonwood. Allan taught himself to play guitar as a teenager and received great joy from playing for his family and friends over the years, until his fingers would no longer cooperate. Many evenings were spent at our home singing everything from Johnny Cash to Peter, Paul and Mary. Elvis Presley was a favorite (he even looked a bit like him when he was younger)! He was a huge Karaoke fan as well, and had all the equipment to record his own music, which will be made into CD's for his kids and grandkids to enjoy. Those memories will stay with us forever! Allan is preceded in death by his mother, Marion, brothers Gary and David, and sister Joan. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy, sister Lois Sievewright, brother Donald Zeller, son Nathan Zeller (Sandy), daughters Cathy Evenson (Brad) and Allyson Bright, grandchildren Erica Stanford, Ashley, Landon and Easton Bright, Brianna Phillips and Carissa and Alexa Zeller, as well as two great grandchildren, Liam VonLienon and Serenity Phillips.
