The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/12/2014 Clara Mae Flory, 95, of Tucson died Sept. 5, 2014, at Gabrielle’s Sunset in Tucson. She was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Salina, Kan., the daughter of Victor and Anna Solberg. Clara has joined her late husband, Wesley Flory, who passed away in 1998. They were married 62 years. They moved to Tucson in the early ‘40s and lived there the rest of their lives. Clara was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by her entire family. Her profession and passion was cooking. She worked at the University of Arizona in Louie’s Lower Level, cooking and serving food to the students. Later she worked at various schools in Tucson. Her final position was as head of the faculty dining room at Rincon High School. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed sharing those talents with others. She also loved crafts. Her handmade items were given to many organizations to benefit others. Her hearty laugh and constant smile will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda Thomas of Tucson, James Flory of Yuma and Nancy (Don) Beschler of York, Pa.; five grandchildren, Stephen (Kim) Thomas, William (Heidi) Thomas, Brad (Shannon) Beschler, Angela (Jim) Frey and Laura (Kevin) Brannon. Ten great-grandchildren, Owen, Lucy, Liam, Matthew, Dylan, Ryan, Tyler, Makayla, Malakai and Zoe. Clara was so proud of her family. Even in failing health, everyone always received a birthday card with a message just from her. Clara was a strong woman that not only cared for her ailing husband but numerous others. She loved to organize and will probably be taking charge in heaven too. She will be missed by her family and many others whose lives she touched. Although not a current member of a church, Clara had a strong faith in God and knew her life beyond earth would be wonderful. She was also a member of the Emblem Club, NARFE, past assistant director of Arizona Good Sam Club and Lady Elks. East Lawn Mortuary of Tucson handled arrangements. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
