Carla Hughes, 80, passed away Aug. 20, 2014. She was born April 7, 1934,
in Harlan, Ky., to Irvin and Victoria West.
She and husband, Samuel Hughes, were married in Bedford, Ind. They had
been married for sixty-two plus years.
Carla loved Jesus and was a member of the Stone Grace Fellowship. She
was an amazing seamstress and spent much of her time creating clothes
for herself and her family, even making her daughters’ wedding dresses.
“She was a great cook, an amazing mother and a wonderful wife. “
Carla is survived by her husband, Samuel; children, Joanne Henshaw,
Christina Leslie, Victoria Hughes, Julie Konishi and Sarah Church, as
well as brother, Roy West. She also leaves behind two sisters, May
Spicer and Lucy White; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and
one great-great grandchild. She joins one granddaughter and one great-
granddaughter in heaven.
A memorial service will be for Carla at the Stonebridge Christian
Fellowship, Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. Pastor Richard Tatham will
officiate.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home &
Crematory.
