It is with profound sadness the family announces Patti’s passing at home
in Toronto surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014
at the young age of 60.
She was the beloved daughter of Dr. John E. Fenn (deceased) and
Josephine Mary Jane Fenn (deceased). She was the loving mother of
Richard Rahnema, J.D. and Alex Rahnema, B.Sc. (M.D. Candidate). She was
the devoted sister of Dr. Carrol A. Fenn (Floyd) and their children,
Ryan and Meagan; Robert J. Fenn, LL.B., C.D. (Jill) and their children,
Jason (Marla), Jordan, James and Ashleigh (Rick) and granddaughter Leni;
and Dr. Richard Fenn (Mary Clare) and their children, Harrison, Wesley
and Darcy Clare. She was the dearly loved cousin of Jeannette Poulin,
Gene and Donny Poulin, Lewis Cornwell, Doug and Linda Iverson and Mary
Ann and Bill Rustay.
Patti passed away with dignity, elegance and grace, just the way she
lived her life. She had a tremendous will to live, a strong and
courageous personality and the resolve to touch the lives of all she
came in contact providing ongoing support, encouragement, optimism and
humour. Patti leaves behind a legacy of love, gratitude and
encouragement for her family, friends, colleagues and patients. She will
be greatly missed, loved and always remembered by everyone each day for
the rest of their lives.
She was one of the first cardiac nurse practitioners in Arizona and was
a member of the American College of Cardiology, Arizona Board of
Nursing, Board of Registered Nursing, California, ACCN, College of
Nurses of Ontario and FCCS.
Patti started her long career in nursing as an RN at North York General
Hospital, Ontario in 1973. During the next 40 years, she
enthusiastically pursued her love of cardiovascular disease doing what
she did best, diagnosing, treating, helping and mentoring others. She
was the author of books in critical care, notably her publication titled
“Critical Care Nursing” which continues to be used by many nursing
colleges, and this combined with her published journal articles and her
teaching and lecturing skills made her a recognized pioneer and leader
in her field.
Patti’s family extends special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Pritchard, and the
staff at Sunnybrook Health Services Odette Cancer Centre and to Dr.
James Swan for the world class medical care, support and compassion they
provided to her.
A celebration of life in memory of Patricia will be held between 6-9
p.m. on Sept. 27 at her home, 1995 Palmer Dr. Please contact Richard
Rahnema to RSVP at richrahnema@gmail.com or (928)208-1824.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made. Please contact Richard
