Samuel Macallie Atkinson, 71, passed away Sept. 8, 2014, at home with his family by his side in Santa Cruz, Calif. He was born July 13, 1943, in Charleston, S.C., to Charles Norman Atkinson and Alice Pamela Wilkins.
Sam is survived by his sister Sally; brothers Robert and Russell; his daughters, Johanna and Samantha; son Macallie; and his grandchildren, Kellan and Aleah.
After attending Carlisle Military Academy in Bamberg, S.C., Sam moved to Los Angeles, where he received an Associates of Arts degree from Los Angeles City College and where he met his future wife-to-be, Mary Sawyer.
Sam began a career repairing typewriters for Royal and eventually moved to Prescott, Ariz., where he ran his business of typewriter and office machine repair from 1969 to 2013.
Sam moved to Santa Cruz, Calif., to be with his children in December 2013. He was innovative, enjoyed life, photography, gardening and flaying the flute. Sam loved and cherished his friends and family and made it a point to beautify his surroundings. He is loved and missed very much and will live forever in our hearts.
