CLAWSON, Joanne

(Maiden Name: Milando)

The Payson Roundup, Payson, Arizona, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 Joanne Milando Clawson passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 after a five-year battle with breast cancer. Born in Toronto, Canada, Joanne moved to Utah after converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to attend Brigham Young University. While in Utah, she met and married Klay Clawson in the Salt Lake Temple. After Klay graduated from college, Klay and Joanne moved to St. George, Utah for employment opportunities. Employment with the same company then took the young family from St. George to Rexburg, Idaho and then to Orem, Utah. When Klay changed companies they landed in Payson, Ariz. in 2003. Joanne has worked for the Payson Unified School District for the past 11 years and as librarian for Julia Randall Elementary School for the past six. Joanne loved books as a child, read lots of books to her own children, and so this job was a natural for her. She loved the children at JRE and always looked forward each day to go and share the wonderful world that books allowed the children to explore. Joanne’s survivors and those blessed to have her in their lives are Klay Clawson, her husband of 30 years; three sons, Tyler (Sarah) Clawson, Tanner Clawson, and Trevor Clawson. She was a brand new grandma of a baby girl named Cecily, born one month ago. She also is survived by a younger sister, Diane Hogenson; and two older brothers, Leon and Otto Milando; and other family and friends who loved Joanne for her loving personality, quick wit, and determination to meet one more milestone. Funeral services will be held for Joanne in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Payson Stake Center, 916 S. Ponderosa St. in Payson at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, where her family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m.
