Larry W. Paul, 60, passed away suddenly on Sept. 20, 2014. He was born Jan. 9, 1954, in Havre, Mont., to Levi and Elizabeth Paul. Larry is preceded in death by his father Levi, brothers Doug and Steve, and sister Teresa. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Clare; son Ian; daughter Marie; and sister Deborah Privett.
Larry grew up in Carson City, Nev. He began his law enforcement career as a cadet with the Carson City Sheriff's Department. He received his degree in criminal justice from the University of Nevada Reno. Larry worked as a back-country ranger in Lake Tahoe, Nev.; was a state narcotics agent for the Nevada Division of Investigations and Narcotics in 1976; and was hired by the Douglas County Sheriff's Department in Gardnerville, Nev., in 1980. He retired in 2003 as a sheriff's sergeant.
In 2006 Larry began a new career as a Lutheran pastor. He attended Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., from 2003 to 2006. He was a called and ordained pastor of Saving Grace Lutheran Church in Chino Valley, Ariz., since 2007. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 2607 Hwy 89, Chino Valley, AZ. The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1202 Green Lane, Prescott, AZ.
