NEWBURN, Daniel Edward (Dan)

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Daniel Edward Newburn “Dan” January 19, 1949 to September 18, 2014 Our beloved husband, father, son and brother passed away peacefully on September 18, 2014, surrounded by his family. Dan was born in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Arizona to attend high school and the University of Arizona. Dan joined the Tucson Fire Department on February 4, 1974. He dedicated 34 years of service and leadership to the Tucson Fire Department, achieving the rank of Fire Chief, which position he held from July 1, 2001 to September 12, 2008. Dan’s proudest accomplishment was his family, who could not be more proud of him. We will always feel Dan’s deep love, compassion, and happiness and are truly blessed to have had him in our lives. His was a light that will never be extinguished. Dan is survived by his wife, Katie, daughters Molly (Brian), Megan (Tommy), and his precious and much-loved granddaughter, Emerson, who has her granddaddy’s smiling blue eyes. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Ford and his sisters, Sandra Maxedon and Dorothy Weber. Private services will be held to celebrate his extraordinary life.
