Robert “Bob” W. Williams, 77, of Show Low died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, in Glendale. Bob was born June 1, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Wilmar and Bueta Williams.
On June 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to Barbara K. Brogan. He worked as the grounds maintenance supervisor for Arizona State University and retired as an Arizona state employee.
Bob was a renowned Olympic style weight lifter and was well known as a very accomplished lifter. He held many records over his weight-lifting career, including several world records. Bob was a national weight lifting champion numerous times.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Tamara Friedman of Pflugerville, Texas, and Luann Kenney of Show Low; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Josh, Greg and Ashley; and seven great-grandchildren, Gannon, Olivia, Alissyn, James, Abbygayle, Sebastian and Connor.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Crystal and Tracey, and his wife of 53 years, Barb. He and Barb are now, once again, enjoying time together.
A memorial service for Bob will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Elks Lodge, 805 E. Whipple St., in Show Low. There will be additional time to share and celebrate Bob’s life over food and drink following the service.
