The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/03/2014 Georgia A. Kay died Sept. 19, 2014, in Show Low. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, to Edward Franklin Adams and Mettie Kirstine Hansen in Show Low at the beautiful Scott Ranch, now covered over by Show Low Lake. Georgia met her forever sweetheart Joseph Walker “Dutch” Kay when she was 15 years old. They married a couple of years later on Jan. 18, 1947, in Globe. To this union three choice children blessed their lives: Nora Jean, Marilyn and Joe. They were sealed in the Mesa Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints June 17, 1994, for time and all eternity. Georgia was a hard-working woman during her lifetime. Her first job was at Maxwell’s washing dishes, cooking and waiting tables. This is where she met Dutch. The two of them had many different businesses over the years, from a trading post in Sanders to Kay Realty in Lakeside. She loved working side by side with her sweetheart. Georgia was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many different church callings in her life. Her most recent and favorite was a ward missionary. She loved helping the full-time missionaries. They all called her Grandma Kay. She was known for her warm greetings, energetic nature and her beautiful smile. She was a true example of Christ like love. She will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Dutch” Kay, daughter Nora Jean Askew, parents Frank and Kirstine Adams and several brothers and sisters. Georgia is survived by one daughter, Marilyn K. (Delbert) Winn; son Joe (Amy) Kay; two granddaughters, Krysti (Ryan) Bowler and Melissa Kay; six grandsons, Rick Simon, Matt (Kelly) Simon, Brandon Winn, James (Michele) Kay, Dutch Kay and Micheal (Ashlee) Kay; two great-granddaughters, Kylie and Brooklyn Bowler; three great-grandsons, Kayson Bowler, Keiji Winn and Chatlee Kay; two sisters, Mettie Elrod and Shirley (Ken) Hatch; and brother Harvey (Linda) Adams. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 Church Lane, in Lakeside. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., in Show Low and one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel of Show Low handled arrangements.
