HAWKINS, Valencia

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/10/2014 Valencia Hawkins entered eternal rest Sept. 30, 2014, surrounded by loved ones in Mesa. She was born Aug. 8, to Beulah and Leroy Hawkins. Valencia was rich with love and always helped others out in any way she could. She enjoyed going to Sunrise dances and being around and helping children. She also loved cats, riding horses and listening to reggae music. She called everyone “sister,” told you “I love you” and gave hugs. She blessed everyone with her smile and presence. She is a character to remember because of her sense of humor and variety of jokes. She is survived by her sisters, Joanne Johnson and Valerie Hawkins; brothers Leon Hawkins and Elroy Hawkins; sister-in-law Charlena Hawkins; brother-in-law Randy Johnson; aunts Trixie Begay, Virginia Montero, Effie Dahkoshay and Judy Quintero; uncles Buster Gordon, Alvino Hawkins Sr., Larson Hawkins and William Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beulah and Leroy Hawkins. A wake was held Oct. 9 at the Begay’s residence in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the St. Francis Church in Whiteriver. Interment will follow services at the Whiteriver Cemetery. Silver Creek Mortuary handled arrangements.
