(Maiden Name: Blakney)

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI) Sunday, December 30, 2012 Barbara (Nee Blakney) Brumder, came to rest on December 26, 2012, peacefully at her family home on North Lake surrounded by her children, grandchildren and "Bobbie" (Opi), her devoted husband of 67 years. She was born on June 12, 1925, as the only child of Janet and George Blakney. Barbara brought happiness and smiles everywhere she went. "We lost an angel and true pal", said Opi. Barbara lived a full and joyful life. She was known as "B" to her adoring grandchildren, "Blanche" to her husband and "Aunt Barbie" to many relatives and friends. Barbara's most beloved legacy was her 5 children Thekla and Richard Sanford, Robo and Kathy Brumder, Charlie and Katie Brumder, Amy and Scott Nunnally, David Brumder, her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Barbara grew up in Milwaukee, raised her family on Pine Lake and enjoyed her last 36 years in her family home, Hopkins Place, on North Lake. She was a life long Episcopalian who was a founding member of St Anskar's Church in Hartland and a member of St Alban's Church in Wickenburg, Arizona. Always avoiding the limelight she preferred to support others with her gentle ways of quiet compassion and words of encouragement. Gracious entertaining and preparing fabulous meals were special gifts Barbara offered her family and friends whether over a campfire in Little Hells Canyon, Arizona or in her welcoming homes. On the day her spirit left our world one of her granddaughters wrote: "she lived a truly beautiful life; traveling with family, gardening, cooking, entertaining, horse back riding, hunting with her husband, swimming and fishing in North Lake and loving her children, grandchildren and their spouses" Kayt (Brumder) and Jorge Pereira, Fritz and Molly (Denk) Brumder, Blakeney Sanford and her fiancé Bennett Williams, Bradley (Brumder) and Eddie Wabiszewski, Ellery (Brumder) and Quentin Thomas, Thekla (Brumder) and Dylan Ross, Karley, Lexi and Eily Brumder, Sophie and Avery Nunnally.
