Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, October 12, 2014 >>> Ernest “Boyd” Titus <<< >>> May 12, 1936 — Oct. 7, 2014 <<< Boyd Titus, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Lake Havasu City. He was born May 12, 1936 to Ernest Edward Titus and Claire Titus in Petaluma, Calif. Boyd spent much of his life along the Northern California coast, and retired to Lake Havasu City in 2001. He was a meat cutter by trade and managed gourmet meat departments and bakery departments in several stores during his career. He was affectionately known as the “butcher, baker, but no candlestick maker.” He was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters & Butcher Workmen since 1957. Generous to a fault, Boyd supported many local causes and was very patriotic. He served more than 20 years on the Fort Bragg, Calif. volunteer fire department. Having a lifelong passion for rodeo, Boyd attended as often as possible. He especially loved bull riding. Horseback riding was a favorite pastime. Boyd was the epitome of the true outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting with his sons, travel by RV, and entertaining - he was an exceptional cook. After a few visits to Lake Havasu City in their RV, in 2001 Boyd and his wife Jan decided to make Lake Havasu City their home. As a friend of Bill W., Boyd was able to garner many friends through the years. Boyd is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Claire Titus. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jan Titus of Lake Havasu City; sons, Steve Titus and Stuart Titus (Nikki Piper) of Manchester, Calif.; Russell Titus of Fort Bragg, Calif.; stepdaughter, Traci Munion of Lakeport Calif.; stepson, Nick Munion of Carmel, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Private services are being planned for the family in California. Donations in Boyd’s name may be made to Hospice of Havasu. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
