Ruby J. "Jean" Brandl, 85, passed away Sept. 28, 2014, in Prescott Valley, Ariz., two months to the day after the passing of her beloved husband of 67 years, Richard (Dick).
She was born May 26, 1929, in Hibbing, Minn., and is survived by her children, Marsha Held of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kathy Renken and husband Larry of Prescott Valley. Jean was very active in her younger years, supporting her husband in his various business ventures and raising her two daughters. She was an excellent and very competitive bowler during this time.
Once her daughters were raised, she devoted her time to assisting Dick and daughter Kathy in building their Merle Norman Cosmetics business until she and Dick retired to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1992. She became an avid golfer, winning a number of tournaments and winning couples tournaments with Dick as well.
They both enjoyed their retirement with many newfound friends - traveling, golfing, dining and dancing.
They enjoyed their Prescott Valley home during the summer months and moved to that home permanently in 2012. Jean resided at Aspen Creek Care Home in Prescott Valley for the last 18 months of her life, where she was given the best of care and where she passed peacefully in her sleep.
As Jean requested, there will be no services. In support of life, her body was donated to advance medicine through Science Care, a whole body donor program.
She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
