Jones passed away after a long illness at the home of his daughter Michele Jones in Oak Harbor, Wash. Dan was born in Purcell, Okla. and was the only child of Rachel Heflin who along with two loving stepfather’s, Frank Bartlett and Jeff Turnbull preceded him in death. Dan served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict returning to work in law enforcement beginning in Garden Grove, Calif. and then as a Deputy Sheriff for San Bernardino County in California for over ten years out of Parker Dam, California substation. He left the Sheriff’s Office and went to work for the Metropolitan Water District based at Parker Dam, Calif. He was there for over 20 years retiring due to a disability in 1990. He married Audrey Randolph Miles in April of 1962. Moving to the Colorado River in 1964. He and Audrey have been married for 52 years. There are a total of six children, Michele “Mickie” Jones, Michael Jones (Beverly), Scott Jones (Conna), Pj Springman (Jim), Andrew Jones (Cynthia “Sassy”) and Kevin Jones. At the time of his passing there are 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, was an amateur geologist, watching boat and off- road races with his many friends along the River until his health no longer permitted it. He and Audrey moved to Lake Havasu City, for several years before relocating to Oak Harbor, Wash. He will be missed by his new friends and “extended family” in Washington as well.
