Prescott bid farewell today to one of its early settlers, Ed Roberts, who died Thursday night, at funeral services which were conducted from the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Christian Science rites were conducted at the Home and Elks services proceeded interment in Mountain View Cemetery. Pall bearers were selected from Roberts' brothers of the local Elks lodge, of which he was a charter member.
A long period of service to the district and community followed Roberts' arrival in the area as a youth of 12 with his family in 1875. He was a railroading pioneer, having helped to survey paths of three Arizona roads following the entrance of rails into the territory. He was a surveyor of the road which passes through Prescott.
In addition his contributions to the development of the cattle industry were constructive, and for a long period he was a leader in local affairs.
The pioneer leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Williams, and two grandchildren, Doris and Floyd Williams, Jr.
