Wilma (Billie) Spencer, 97, passed on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 in Globe, Ariz. Billie was born in Port Huron, Mich. on December 23, 1916.
She spent her childhood riding horses, swimming and going to summer camp. She graduated from Albion College in 1938, where she excelled in swimming, basketball, hockey, and was named “Most Outstanding Senior.”
She married John “Spence” Spencer in December 1939. They moved to the Globe-Miami area in 1948. Billie taught in Miami for many years. When Billie retired, she and Spence traveled the world photographing wildlife.
She later lost her beloved husband, Spence, and much loved granddaughter, Andrea (Lucero) Miller.
She leaves daughters: Sue Spencer of Kelseyville, Calif., Lynne (Norton) Miller of Miami, and son John (Michael) Spencer, of Kelseyville, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
The family will have a small, private memorial, and celebration later.
Billie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
