The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 Eugene Debs Griffin, 96, of Prescott, Ariz., born Jan. 27, 1918, in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away Oct. 4, 2014. Cremation will take place at Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Arrangements by Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home. ~~~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, November 02, 2014 Eugene "Gene" Debs Griffin, 96, died in Prescott, Arizona, on Oct. 4, 2014. He was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Mark and Montana Griffin. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Edith (Genette) Griffin and his only brother, Hugh "Dootle" Griffin. Gene was a sergeant in the Marines from 1940 to 1946. He served in such battles as Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal and Taroa and received a Bronze Star. He earned his Master's and Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and worked for North American Rockwell as an electrical engineer. He was also a member of the Apollo Design Team. Gene lived in his home in Prescott for the past 20 years. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing poker with his friends on Thursdays. He lived a long, healthy active life and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son Mark Hugh Griffin; daughter-in-law Kimberly Griffin; and grandson Max Eugene Griffin, all of Healdsburg in Northern California.
