The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/24/2014 Odilia Melendrez, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the Beehive Home in Eagar. She was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Altar, Mexico, the daughter of Antonio Reyna and Adela Lopez Reyna. Odilia was a homemaker and very busy in the community. She was an active charter member at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Ajo until she moved to Eagar. She also was an active member of Ajo Schools PTA and volunteered with March of Dimes, Election Board, Ajo Chamber of Commerce and the White Mountain Regional Medical Center Auxiliary in Springerville. Odilia is survived by her son, Alfred (Diane) Melendrez of Phoenix; daughters Cris Sanchez of Glendale, Hilda (Wayne) Butler of Eagar and Jo (Marc) Aurelius of Phoenix; brother Dan Reyna; sisters Adela Browder and Estella Milan; numerous nieces and nephews; and 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Melendrez, and other family members. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Springerville. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
