Louise Hamblin Platt, 96, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, in St. Johns. She was born March 12, 1918, in Eagar, the daughter of Dudley Jabez and Julia Mae Butler Hamblin. She was the last surviving granddaughter of Jacob Hamblin.
Louise was a homemaker and architect for her own house, drawing house plans with a yardstick, level and a 2x4. She made beautiful embroidery and was a good seamstress. She was awarded best makeover award from her interior design class. She made pie crust to die for and loved and defended little children.
She is survived by her sons, Henry Platt and Drew Platt; daughters Teena Platt, Patrice Rodriguez and Kathleen Platt; brother-in-law Hugh Phillips; and 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair H. Platt, and all of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Downtown Chapel in St. Johns, with visitation one hour prior.
Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
