STANFORD, David C. (Bean)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/31/2014 David C. Stanford, 64, known as “Bean,” of Springerville, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 18, 2014. He was born Dec. 22, 1949, in Bisbee to Evelyn and JJ Stanford. David married Kathy Dickinson, the love of his life Oct. 4, 1971, in Bisbee. They moved to Playas, N.M., in 1975, were David worked for the Phelps Dodge Corporation as a general foreman for the power plant for 32 years. In 2005, and until the time of his death, David worked as a supervisor at Tucson Electric Power’s Springerville Generating Plant. David is survived by his wife, Kathy; son Brian (Jessica) Stanford of Silver City, N.M.; daughter Jamie (Brian) Avila of Safford; brother Kenny (Nancy) Stanford of Bisbee; and sister Donna (Anthony) Mason of Silver City, N.M. David’s favorite quote was: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take your breath away!” A celebration of David’s life will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 1, at Vining Funeral Home’s “Chapel of the Valley,” in Safford.
