The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, November 02, 2014 Helen Lewis Paul, 97, formerly of Prescott, Arizona, died peacefully at home on Oct. 18, 2014. Helen was born in Gary, Indiana, on Sept. 21, 1917, to Kathleen and Clyde Lewis. She lived in Prescott from 1947 to 1972, when she moved with her husband to Black Canyon City, where she remained until her death. She was employed for 25 years as a personnel clerk and financial auditor for the Veterans Administration in Prescott. She was president of the Whipple Employee Association for two years and was named Employee of the Year in 1970. Helen was a certified Junior Bowling instructor and taught Junior Bowling at Prescott Lanes. She was a member of the Black Canyon Community Church since 1972, where she was a charter member of the Women Who Care Ministries, a member of the Ladies Guild, served as Church Clerk for three years and recently two years as deaconess. She loved sports and was a medalist in Northern Indiana Tennis Association Tournament. Helen was also an avid Diamondbacks fan. She served in many volunteer organizations including BCC Helping Hands and BCC Community Associations and enjoyed visiting nursing homes as a volunteer. She will be missed by her many friends, and is survived by her son David J. Paul; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph V. Paul; sons Kenneth J. Paul and George Preston Davies; and siblings Marian Sanders, Annabelle Lindquist, and Robert Lewis. A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Black Canyon City Community Church. Palm Valley Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Information provided by survivors.
