THEDE, Margaret

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, October 25, 2014 Margaret Thede, age 62, passed away October 22, 2014, peacefully, surrounded by friends. She is survived by her husband, Walter Coates, and was preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Jennie Thede. Margaret was born in Cottonwood and spent most of her life in Cornville. She attended Oak Creek Elementary and Cottonwood Junior High and Mingus Union High School in Jerome. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She spent her life as a professional, accomplished artist. Margaret died of terminal cancer environmentally caused by exposure to living "downwind" from above ground nuclear testing during the 50's and 60's. Information provided by survivors.
