Chester Edward Otis passed away on Oct. 16, 2014, at the age of 92.
He was born in Westbury, N.Y. and was raised in Geneva, N.Y., where he graduated from Geneva High School in 1939.
He attended the University of New Mexico and graduated with an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1948.
He was an Engineer with Western Union and MEECO Marinas. He developed and sold maps of Lake Powell. He was a foster parent, a Big Brother, and a Boy Scout Leader. He loved boating. Every year he, along with family and friends, explored Lake Powell on a House Boat, and he loved to sail on the ocean.
He is predeceased by his parents, Burt and May Otis; sisters, Ruth Testa and Marion Lutz; a brother, Roger Henry Otis; nephew, Michael Testa and great niece, Megan Wildroudt.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Mary Testa and Margo (Bob) Bracamonte of Globe, Ariz., Susan Testa of San Clemente, Calif., Steve (Ann) Otis, Harold Otis, and Roger (Susan) Otis of McAlester, Okla., Karen (Paul) Lowe of Dallas, Texas, Susie (Curt) Jernigan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cyndy (Steve) Brown of Arlington, Va. He also has 12 great nieces and nephews, 23 great-great nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great niece, all out of state.
His memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Globe Ariz. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to Meals on Wheels at the Globe Active Adult Center, 579 S. Broad St., Globe, AZ 85501.
