Doris Lucille Castro, age 86, passed away Oct. 26, 2014. She was born to
Ralph and Stella Talbot, Jan. 22, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo.
Doris married Walter Castro in 1960, in Covina, Calif. They moved to
Hilo, Hawaii in 1970 where they enjoyed life on their four-acre ranch.
After Doris retired from the Retail Clerks Union, she and Walter moved
back to California in 1987 to be closer to her children and
grandchildren. They lived in Victorville, Calif., and in 1995 moved to
Lake Havasu City.
Doris enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking cookies and occasional trips
to Las Vegas and Laughlin. She was partial to cats, her favorite flower
was the rose and she collected angels. Every three years she looked
forward to attending her Talbot Family Reunion, which began in 1983—and
she never missed one. She was active in the Grace Episcopal Church, Lake
Havasu City. Her church family was very important to her.
She is survived by her two children; daughter, Karen (Bryan) Bruton of
Burnet, Texas; son, Donald (Bobbi) Holmes of Lake Havasu City; brothers,
John Talbot of Oregon and Bill (Leona) Talbot of Idaho; granddaughters,
Michelle Erlewine (Charles Delgado) of California, Wendi Jarrell of
Texas, Elizabeth (Joe) Mackey of California; grandson, Robert Scott
(SeAnne) Holmes of Oregon; great-granddaughters Ada, Julia, Delia,
Addison; great-grandsons, Brantley and Evan, and several beloved nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Holmes; second
husband Walter Castro; parents, and brother, Richard Talbot.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Grace
Episcopal Church, 111 Bunker Drive. She will be interred at the Grace
Episcopal Church Memorial Garden with her husband Walter.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
