Daniel Watts Richard, 90, died peacefully in his sleep, to join his wife, Afton Lou Pierce, Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at the Beehive Home in Eagar.
Dan was born Sept. 20, 1924, to Crispi Daniel “Pete” Richard and Frances Jean Watts in Memphis, Tenn., and was raised there.
Dan joined the Navy for World War II. When the war was over, he joined his family, who had moved to Tucson. He became a civil engineer at the University of Arizona. Some of the companies he worked for were Pan Am, Dell, and the Forest Service, where he retired. He also did numerous land surveying in the Round Valley area.
Dan was active in the Round Valley community through the VFW, Hospital Auxiliary andthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a councilman for the Town of Eagar. He loved his country and was a true patriot and actively supported those that he believed would keep it strong and free. Dan enjoyed singing and continued to do so until shortly before his passing.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel F. (Romelle) Richard and Dale (Wendy) Richard; daughters Marion (William T.) Wiltbank and Belinda (Sidney) Udall; and 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Gloria Anne Adams and three great grandsons. He will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Burnham Mortuary in Eagar. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior.
Interment will follow services at the Eagar Cemetery.
