CALDWELL, Bruce

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, November 09, 2014 Bruce Caldwell, 80, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, was graduated to Heaven on Oct. 10, 2014. Bruce spent a happy, adventurous childhood in Bisbee, Arizona, a great place to grow up. He graduated from Bisbee High School and went on to graduate in engineering from Northrop Aeronautical Institute. He and his wife Charlotte, also from Bisbee, were married shortly after graduation. After working for Northrop Aircraft for a year, he felt called into Christian ministry and went to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, majoring in pastoral ministry. Going back to Arizona, Bruce pastored churches in Salome, Arizona, and Camp Verde, Arizona. Later he went on to get his bachelor's degree in education at Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona, and taught in the Washington Elementary District until retirement. His Masters degree was from Arizona State University. He also had fellowships to study at Columbia University in New York, and the University of Huston in Texas. Bruce also taught science and math classes at two private colleges in Phoenix, and a math class at Yavapai College, Prescott. Bruce's hobbies included photography, jeeping in the mountains of Colorado and Arizona, amateur radio, watching football, baseball, basketball and auto races. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball. After retiring and moving to Prescott, one of his greatest joys was teaching an adult Bible class (Friendship Class) at the First Baptist Church in Prescott. He loved God and wanted to teach others about Him. He taught the class for about 17 years, giving it up recently because of failing health. Bruce's friends have described him as a Godly inspiration, sweet, kind, tender and "the best illustration of Christian manhood." His family agrees and would also add patient, forgiving, and generous to the list. Bruce and Charlotte recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bruce was the proud father of sons Bruce, Brian and Barry; and daughter Susan. A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 148 S. Marina, Prescott, Arizona. Information provided by survivors.
