Tech. Sgt. Sean Barton, an Air Force Special Operations Command pararescueman assigned to the 320th Special Tactics Squadron, died October 30, 2014. He was born on July 11, 1985 in Glendale, AZ. Sean's greatest outdoor passion was skydiving. He loved all outdoor activities, boating, dirt bikes, sand rails, camping and hiking. He was a fan of all the Arizona sports teams and loved playing board games with his family.
Sean joined the Air Force in 2003 and was deployed multiple times to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a master parachutist, military freefall master parachutist, combat dive supervisor and Combat Search and Rescue Paramedic team lead.
His decorations include seven Air Medals, one Air Achievement Medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, one Air Force Achievement Medal and one Army Achievement Medal. He received his associate degree from the Air Force and he was two classes away from receiving his bachelor’s degree in health management.
Sean is survived by his loving wife Crystal, mother Leona Bix, father Jim (Susan) Barton, brother Matthew (Natalie) Barton, sisters Savanah Bix, Lindsey Barton, step sisters Stephanie Bix, Camille and Casey Kercheval, maternal grandmother Hildegard Hakos, paternal grandparents James and Edith Barton, niece Charlotte Barton, step mother Melissa Rasmussen, and step father Troy Bix.
A Celebration of Sean’s life will be held at 11 am, on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 7007 W Happy Valley Rd., Peoria, AZ 85383. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.heritagefuneralchapels.com.
