Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on November 13, 2014 - James Albert Lantz of Kingman entered eternity Nov. 8, 2014. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Cathleen. He is also survived by his children: Patrick, Chris (Michelle) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sheree (Michael) of Lacey, Wash. Jim also had five stepchildren: Jeff of Kingman, Brandon (Michelle) of Princeton, Minn., Dan Jr. (Andrea) of Pontiac, Mich., Bryan (Delani) of Blanchard, Mich., and Marcie (Daniel) of Waterford, Mich. Jim was "Papa" to Brooke, Kyle, Shaun, Nicholas, Noah and Jase of Las Vegas and Ethan and Ricky of Lacey, Wash. Jim also has 17 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Raeli and Braydan. Jim is also survived by two brothers, John (Donna) and Jeff (Marcy) of Indiana. Jim has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Rose Lantz, and former spouse, Barbara. Jim was born in Bay City, Mich., and raised in Oxford, Mich. He went into the Air Force in 1966 and did five tours in Vietnam. He was stationed all over the world. The last place he was stationed was Madrid, Spain. He retired after 23 years and went to Mio, Mich., where he lived for two years before settling in Kingman in 1991. Jim drove truck for a while, then went to work for Mohave County for 10 years. He retired in 2011. Master Sgt. James A. Lantz was a lifetime member of VFW Post 10386 in Kingman, American Legion Post 108 in Oxford, Mich., and an envoy member of Beta Sigma Phi, which he joined in Spain. He was also a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Kingman. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home and there will be no service at this time in Kingman. Memorials and donations can be made at Mohave Credit Union, care of Cathleen Lantz. Jim will make a trip to his hometown for a memorial service this summer. Then he will go up north to Mio to another memorial service with family.
