ANDERSON, Kenneth Carl


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, November 30, 2014 - Kenneth Carl Anderson, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014. Born Sept. 4, 1927, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Carl and Catherine Anderson. His family relocated to Greenville, Mo. in 1941. Kenneth graduated from Greenville High in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter, serving on the U.S.S. Thomas Jefferson. In 1948, he met Marie Anderson and they married April 23, 1950 in Patterson, Mo. They moved to Illinois in 1951, relocated to the St. Louis area in 1952 and settled in Overland in 1958. Kenneth began working at McDonnell Aircraft in 1952, eventually becoming a supervisor in the Model Shop where he proudly worked on the Mercury and Gemini programs. In 1976, he and Marie relocated to California and moved to Lake Havasu City in 1993. Kenneth was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the VFW and the Masons. He and Marie were advisors to the Senior High MYF at Marvin Park UMC and he served on the Overland YMCA Teen Town Adult Council for two years. He loved to fish and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Anderson. He is survived by daughters, Linda (Robert) Messervy and Beverly (Craig) Martins; grandchildren, Kenneth Anderson II, Bryce Martins (Alexis Dintelman) and Abby Martens (Kyle Rollins); great-grandsons, Kenneth Anderson III and Masyn and Nash Martins; sister, Mary Bristow; sister- in-law, Merle Hess; “adopted” grandson Rex (Jennifer) Arnold and son Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., at Stonebridge Christian Fellowship, 2700 S. Jamaica Blvd. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
