Wanda Margaret Carey (Strenge) was born in New Ulm, Minn., on March 1,
1926, to Richard and Marie Strenge.
Wanda was married to the love of her life, Fay Carey, for over 50 years
until his passing 2002. At the time of their marriage they made their
home in North Dakota and remained there for many years until Fay was
transferred to Lake Mead Naval Base in Las Vegas, Nev.
Fay and Wanda spent 10 years in Las Vegas and upon Fay's retirement,
moved back to N.D.
After spending many winters in Arizona, they moved to Dolan Springs
permanently in approximately 1979.
They had four children, Richard Carey (Dolan Springs); Dean Carey and
wife Millie (Dolan Springs); Charlotte Cleveland and husband Rick (Dolan
Springs); Kim Carey and special friend Dave Moncrief (Dolan Springs).
She was blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Wanda was a very sweet person who loved her church family at Praise
Chapel of Dolan Springs and enjoyed spending time with the ladies of the
church.
She was very active in the VFW and until her passing served at the Fish
Fry every other Friday. She also volunteered for various luncheons held
at the VFW and remained active until the time of her passing.
She loved to play bingo and go shopping with her best friend Edna. She
also loved to travel and was known to take many trips to different parts
of the world. Wanda loved spending time with her family and traveling
back to North Dakota for the summer. Wanda touched many lives and will
be greatly missed by all.
Graveside services will be held at Chloride Cemetery in Chloride.
