Jane Anne Langerak Meier was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away on Nov. 25, 2014, in Prescott, Arizona, at the age of 74.
She worked as an elementary school teacher and Title 1 reading instructor in Monticello and Big Lake, Minnesota, until her retirement in 1998.
She met her husband, John, in Bloomington, Minnesota, and they married in June 1966. They raised their two daughters in Monticello, and spent summers in Longville, Minnesota. In 2002, they bought a home in Prescott and began wintering in Prescott for 11 years, and moved full-time to Arizona in 2013.
Jane was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in early 2010 but continued to enjoy spending time with her three grandchildren, drinking caramel lattes with her daughters, visiting with friends, reading Garrison Keillor books and watching the hummingbirds.
She is survived by her husband John; daughters Susan Towle and Kelly Paradis; son-in-law Mike Paradis; grandchildren Alanna, Jonas and Lilah Towle; brother Robert Langerak; brother-in-law Fred Meier; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Robert W. and Elizabeth Langerak.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Dec. 3, 2014, at Hampton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be in Pella, Iowa.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the Margaret T. Morris Center and Granite Mountain Hospice, both in Prescott, for their wonderful care of Jane during the last few months of her life.
