Esther Ruth Wawro
Her mission being complete here on Earth, our angel, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend, departed this life into the loving arms of Jesus on Nov. 15, 2014.
Born in Buffalo, New York, to John Gajek and Mary Roszka on April 9, 1926, Esther's name was inspired by the coming of Easter Sunday.
Esther spent her early working years at the Curtiss Aircraft manufacturing plant in Buffalo as a "Rosie the Riveter," assembling the famous P40 Warhawk fighters.
In 1962 she and her husband Ben moved to Phoenix, Arizona, with their three children to start a new life.
She retired from the American Express Corp. in 1988 and enjoyed 26 wonderful years pursuing her own dreams of travel, reading and sewing.
She leaves behind children Marlene Gebhardt of Durango, Colorado; Mark Wawro of Dewey, Arizona; and David Wawro of Prescott Valley, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people at Hospice of the Pines, as well as Dr. Sam Downing and the gals at Accent Care.
