HANSON, Michael R. (Mike)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, December 04, 2014 Michael R. Hanson, 42, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on Dec. 1, 2014. Michael was born on June 21, 1972, in Pasadena, California. Mike graduated from Costa Mesa High School then Crafton Hills College with a Fire Science degree. He then worked for over a decade in many capacities as a firefighter as well as an emergency medical provider. He spoke fondly of his days as a reserve firefighter with Big Bear City, as well as ski patrol, wildland firefighting, San Luis Ambulance, then with AMR in Pismo Beach as a paramedic. Mike joined the Native Air Family as a flight paramedic in 2004, during which time he served as a friend, mentor and leader. Mike's commitment to his local community was tireless. It was obvious that he loved his job, and he committed over two decades to helping others. The single most important thing to him was his family. His love and devotion to his wife and daughters is timeless. All who knew him were aware of his commitment to them, and he imparted his family values to everyone around him. His family was his heart and his soul - there was nothing more important to him, and he made it a point to let them know through his words and actions every single day. Mike is survived by his parents, David and Gloria Horsey; wife Cindy Hanson; daughters Kylie, Lindsey and Alexa; sister and brother-in-law Angela and David LeMaster; niece and nephew Lauren and Sean; brother and brother-in-law Jason Horsey and Stryker Dougan; in-laws Tommy and Donna Chisum; brother and sister-in-law Dustin and Kristin Chisum; and nephew Cole Chisum.
