Vera Sue Wetzel, 79 of Lake Havasu City, passed away at St. Rose
Dominican Hospital, Las Vegas, Dec. 1, 2014 at 4:46 p.m. surrounded by
family. Born Sept. 25, 1935 in Orange, Calif. to Wilma and Auburn
Walker; her mother later remarried James Albert who adopted and raised
Sue as his own.
Suzie, as friends knew her, lived in Huntington Beach, Calif., until
marrying the love of her life, Thomas Wetzel Oct. 3, 1954. Tom and Sue
were destined to meet, as both were born at St. Joseph’s in Orange,
Calif.; as were all six of their children. They lived in the Orange
County where they raised their six children until moving to Canyon Lake,
Calif. in 1980. Tom built the house of her dreams overlooking the Canyon
Lake golf course. In 1999, Tom and Sue retired to Meridian, Idaho to be
closer to their grandchildren. The next nine years they summered in
Idaho and wintered in Lake Havasu City until 2012 when they resided
full-time in Havasu.
As a child, Sue loved riding her horse Sandy and going to the beach. She
also loved fishing, camping, RVing, shoes and shopping; but most of all
she love being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who never had a
bad word to say about anyone.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Tom Wetzel; children,
James Wetzel, Fort Mohave; Judy Jewel, Boise, Idaho; Jon Wetzel, Las
Vegas, Nev.; Janelle Woessner (Bob), Henderson, Nev.; Jeff Wetzel, Grass
Valley, Calif. and Jill Monteith, Boise; 11 grandchildren, Janelle
Wetzel, Brian Fast, Michelle Fast, Michelle Massaro (Bruce), Jessica
Wetzel-Shay (Adam), Robbie Woessner (Kyanne), Krystal Woessner, Emily
Wetzel, Kasey Monteith, Amanda Monteith and Dillon Monteith and five
great-grandchildren, Seth, Parker, Savanah, Mia and Maya. Her mother,
father and stepfather preceded her in death.
She will be dearly missed by all the lives and hearts she touched in her
life.
A special thank you to Dr. Chaunhan and staff at the Havasu Regional
Medical Center for their care and support, without you we wouldn’t have
had the last few precious years together.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Salvation Army.
