Albert "Albie" Patrick Colalillo, 91, passed away Dec. 5, 2012 in Lake
Havasu City. He was born Feb. 20, 1923, to Carlo and Victoria (Janone)
Colalillo in Hibbing, Minn.
In 1941 Albert sailed the Great Lakes and when the war broke out he
became part of the war effort as a Merchant Marine under the Coast
Guard. When he came out of the service in 1946 he worked for his brother
at his garage and also became a union organizer for various
organizations.
From 1951 to 1959 he was a conductor with the DWP Railroad and during
that time had an outboard motor shop and raced hydroplane boats. He
joined the International Longshoreman association in 1959 and was the
President and business agent until 1972.
He was asked to go to Vietnam to help organize the Port docks around
Saigon. He served the Duluth City Council from 1965 to 1969. He retired
in 1987 and moved to Lake Havasu City. He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus, VFW, American Legion, ELKS, St. Vincent De Paul, and the
Italian American Club.
Albie is survived by his spouse, Jane of Lake Havasu City; sons, Keith
(Kelli) and Tim (Tracy) Colalillo and Michael and Andrew Aho; daughters,
Sara (Gordy) Lukkonen and JoAnne (Corey) Emig; sisters, Grace and Jenny;
14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlo and Victoria; son,
Robert; two brothers, Pat and Mike; four sisters, Conchetta, Nicky, Mary
and Carmella.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Lake Havasu
Mortuary Chapel, 2225 N. Kiowa Blvd.
