Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Saturday, December 13, 2014 - Frederick Richard Hartwig, Jr., 70, passed away Dec. 9, 2014 in Lake Havasu City. He was born May 15, 1944 in Ann Arbor, Mich. to Frederick Richard and Ann (Deline) Hartwig, Sr. Frederick graduated from Tecumseh High School in Michigan in 1962 and went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy, serving eight years, with a total of four tours of duty in Vietnam. He married his wife, Diane Speaker on Oct. 11, 1969 in Clayton, Mich. Frederick owned and operated ServiceMaster for more than 25 years and went on to pursue his true passion.....art. He graduated from School of Decorative Treatments in Dorset, England and he specialized in wood grain, marbleizing and sculpting. He and Diana moved to Lake Havasu City one year ago. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Habitat for Humanity and was very active at St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Lansing, Mich., where he was council president, member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher. Frederick is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Diana Hartwig of Lake Havasu City; daughters, Michelle (Jim) D'Lamater and Rachel (Matt) March; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Angela and David March and Jacquline and Grant D'Lamater; brother, Larry (Ruth) Hartwig. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki; brother, David and his parents, Frederick and Anna. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with Pastor's Matt March and Jim Price officiating. Contributions can be made to Woodworking Ministries at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
