William M. Curtis, age 79, of Claypool, Ariz. passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Marfa, Texas on Aug. 18, 1935, the son of Oscar and Maria (Madrid) Curtis.
William was known as “Chile Willy” around the Globe-Miami area. He made delicious Chili, which he sold across from the Shamrock. He was born in Texas but raised in Santa Paula, Calif.
He loved camping, fishing and just being outdoors. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He drove heavy vehicles in the Army and became disabled while serving.
William is survived by his wife, Sandra Curtis of Claypool, Ariz.; his children, Michelle Dillman (Robert), Eleanor Martin (Milford, Jr.), William M. Curtis Jr. (Jennifer), and Anthony Curtis; his siblings, Jimmy Curtis, Ida Rice and Toya Monje; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Interment was at Globe Cemetery.
