Donald LeRoy Luers Jr. passed away Dec. 20, 2014. He was born on Labor
Day, Sept. 2, 1957, to Grace E. (Wilkins) and Donald LeRoy Luers, Sr. at
Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colo.
When young, Donald moved around the United States because his father was
in the Navy. As a young man, Donald traveled to many parts of the world
while serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a plank owner of the destroyer,
USS Oldendorf, serving on the ship's maiden voyage as a gas turbine
technician.
He then attended Colorado State University on the Pueblo, Colo., campus.
During his later years of employment, he built a reputation as a
knowledgeable and patient caregiver for the disabled and troubled youth.
He was preceded in death by he wife, Marnie. Donald will be greatly
missed by his mother and father; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna
(Luers) and Richard Webster; his nephew and family, Mark and Amy
Webster; his nieces, Sarah Webster and Bethany Webster. Also, Calvin,
Emma and Lincoln will greatly miss their loving great-uncle.
A private memorial service is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, please
remember Donald through contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.
