Larry Curtis Biedermann
(May 6, 1948 - December 24, 2014)
Larry Curtis Biedermann was born in Cedar City, Utah to Helen Corry Biederman and Albert Carl Biedermanon May 6, 1948. He and his mother moved to Southern California in the 1950’s, settling in Corona, California. After Larry graduated from Corona High School in 1966, he went to Chaffee College until Uncle Sam came knocking at his door.
He joined the United States Navy in 1969 and honorably served his country in Vietnam as a Brown Water River Patrolman known as “The River Rats”. When he returned home, he went back to college at Riverside City College. Larry graduated in 1970 with in Associates of Arts degree in Geology.
Shortly after graduation, Larry and Kathy Schultz Graves were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on her birthday, August 4th in 1971. Larry adopted Kathy’s daughter, Tina Marie Graves the following year in 1972.Larry and Kathy made their home in Corona, California for the first 4 years of their marriage. Their daughter Kayla DeAna was born in 1972, followed shortly by their son, Jason Corry in 1975. Their family grew again when they welcomed their foster daughter, Margaret Warman.
In 1976, the Biedermann family moved to Moreno Valley where they started a volunteer fire department, known as Station 58. Larry was the first engineer at the fire station and for the first several years, the fire engine and squad truck was parked in the backyard of their home. Larry and Kathy served their community for 8 years with the Fire Department. Larry’s love for family was further exemplified when he adopted their two granddaughters, Saralena Leann Gonzales and Lacy Janey Gonzales. When asked to submit a picture of his hobby for a photo contest at work, Larry lined up his children for a photo and submitted as evidence of how he preferred to spend his time. Larry and Kathy’s circle of love extended to the time spent helping to raise 6 of their 8 grandchildren as well as 1 of their 3 great grandchildren.
Helping his kids was one of Larry’s favorite pastimes. Teaching them to hunt, taking them on camping trips which would be generously described as “roughing it”, launching rockets, picking out the stars in the nighttime sky and learning the names of the constellations and galaxies. Larry’s work ethic was unsurpassed. He started his career at MJ Wood Molding, followed by Del Taco Maintenance, Owens Ill Sand and his step-fathers company, Kimmel Body Works. Larry then spent nearly 20 years as an insurance adjustor with State Farm Insurance, retiring in 2000.
Faith was an integral party of Larry and Kathy’s life. They were sealed for all time and eternity on September 27, 2003 at the Redlands Temple in California. They were then sealed to Saralena and Lacy in December of 2004. Larry served as a high priest in the church since 2003 and dedicated much of his time to helping those around him. In 2004, Larry & Kathy retired to Snowflake, Arizona. Here they made many friends and became involved in the church. This is where their hearts are and where Larry will forever be remembered.
Larry’s legacy lives on in his family… his wife Kathy and their children (and spouses): Tina Graves, Kayla Biedermann, Jason Biedermann (Rebekah), SaralenaHaight (Justin) and Lacy Biedermann as well as their grandchildren: Tori Biedermann, Trista Ward (Brennon), Justin Lowell, Logan Kaneski, Austin Biedermann and Ryan Biedermann and great-grandchildren: Kyra Biedermann, Logan Haight, Joshua Haight, Nathan Haight and Elizabeth Ward and foster daughter Margaret Warman. He is also survived by his father, Albert Carl Biederman, step-mother, Phyllis Biederman, his brother, John Biederman, and his sisters, Susan Merrill and Sandy Petitt.
