LAMBERT, Ray Estel


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, December 31, 2014 Ray Estel Lambert of Wickenburg passed away Dec. 15, 2014, at the Effus Ranch near Wickenburg. Ray was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Smith Center, Kan., and lived in the area until his parents moved to Broken Bow, Neb., and then to the Steve Cooksley Ranch near Anselmo, Neb. Ray grew up working with ranch and draft horses and developed a love for the freedom of the ranching way of life. After attending the University of Nebraska for a year, Ray selected the cowboy life as his occupation. Ranches in Nebraska, Wyoming and Arizona soon became the home of Ray, his horses and dogs. He worked for many different ranches in northern and central Arizona. He last worked for Maughan Ranches, working at various locations and staying with them for almost 20 years. Ray was always looking for a good horse and found many during his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his parents Milburn and Mervein Morrison Lambert; and is survived by brothers John Lambert of Fort Collins, Colo., Alan Lambert of Atioch, Ill., and sister Helen Manka of Aurora, Neb. A memorial service for Ray will be held Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Mount Hope Assembly of God Church in Wickenburg, at 1:30 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Mount hope Assembly of God Church and The Potter’s House.
