Susan Cloud Hall
August 11, 1951 to December 20, 2014
Susan was like no other. She was a woman who marched to the beat of her very own personal drummer.
She fought tirelessly for what she believed in, loved her family fiercely, protected her town with ferocity, and was a true creative individual.
Susan was born in Gary, Indiana to Franklin Cloud and Marion McFarland Cloud. She was raised in the Chicagoland area, graduating from Deerfield High School in 1969.
She moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1970 to attend Arizona State University. Living throughout the Southwest, she finally settled in Jerome in 1974. In 1980, Susan graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Drama, after which she founded the Jerome Performing Arts company.
Over the course of Susan's adult life she produced, wrote, directed, and performed numerous plays throughout Northern Arizona. In addition, she taught at Clarkdale-Jerome School as a regular substitute teacher from 1999 to 2012. Susan loved working with kids and the kids enjoyed having Mrs. Hall as their teacher. Susan was also active in politics and the Jerome community.
In late October 2014, Susan developed a brain infection. She was treated at Barrow Institute in Phoenix, but after a gallant fight, she died peacefully on December 20th at the Hospice of the Valley facility at the St Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. She was surrounded by her family. Susan was a bright light that made people laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Susan is survived by her husband, David Hall, of Jerome, her daughter, Lysistrata Hall, of Phoenix, her son, Casey Hall, of Albuquerque, NM, her step-son, Nathan Hall, of Tucson, her son in-law, Erik Huntsinger, of Phoenix, and her brother, Michael Cloud, of Lake Bluff, IL.
Please join us in celebrating Susan's life on January 10, 2015, 11 am at the Jerome Fire Station, 101 Main Street. A potluck lunch will follow.
