Angel Chacon, 71, was born in Globe, Arizona, on January 3, 1943 and passed away on July 18, 2014. Parents were Jose “Mingo” Domingo Chacon and Catherine Moya Chacon.
He always liked sports and became a member of the Little League Baseball team. During his High School years Angel became quite the basketball athlete.
In 1959-60, Angel and his team-mates won the Class A State Basketball Championship; and the Class A Southwestern Division championship.
Angel was a Boys State delegate in 1960 and a Junior Rotarian that same year.
In 1961 he was elected Senior Class President and representative on the Student Council.
He was voted the GHS Wigwam King for 1960-61.
After GHS graduation, Angel moved to Los Angeles and attended an accredited Chiropractic school; earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree after a four year program.
In 1967, he began his own family run Chiropractic practice and did very well. From 1970 to 1980 he wrote books in English and Spanish for children on the subjects of Anatomy and Physiology and published them himself.
Angel became a nutritionist in 1980 and began providing workshops for back care, sports injuries and for scoliosis. He had a growing and successful 45 year Chiropractic practice.
His friends and neighbors will remember him as that tall basketball whiz with a friendly smile and gentle ways.
Angel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Isela Munoz Chacon, and daughter Crystal Chacon, son Ron Chacon, granddaughter Taliha Chacon and great grandson Deo Chacon; grandsons Dorian, Fabian and Dante Chacon.
Brothers Manuel Chacon, Tom Chacon, Robert Chacon and sister Doreen Chacon DeLuna.
